"LET US PRAY FOR PEACE FOR THE PEOPLE OF MYANMAR"
Teresa of RCIA15 emailed me these photos of the cathedral at her home town Yangon, Myanmar. An excerpt from Wikipedia regarding the cathedral :-
Saint Mary's Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral located in Botahtaung Township, Yangon, Myanmar. The cathedral's exterior consists of red bricks, spires and a belltower. It was designed by Dutch architect Jos Cuypers, son of Pierre Cuypers. |

Sunday, 20 May 2007 After weeks of preparation and many telephone calls, the day had finally come for RCIA 16 to visit the Infant Jesus Convent & Orphanage. Set within the serene surroundings of the Convent Bukit Nanas Girls' School and its beautifully landscaped compound, the orphanage is surprisingly well kept and very clean. Many of the newly baptised arrived as early as 2.00pm for our 3.00pm date with the residents. Perhaps that was the first and clearest indicator of their sincere enthusiasm for this project. They were really looking forward to spending a couple of hours with the residents there. |

This year's Easter Vigil was a bit different from the past years. The RCIA candidates get to witness the blessing of the new fire up close and see the blessing of the paschal candle first hand. |

Sunday 21 May 2006 As part of the RCIA 15 graduates' going-away project, an outreach programme was arranged to visit the Bukit Nanas Convent today. Nestled against the Bukit Nanas forest reserve, the Bukit Nanas Convent is within stone's throw from a famous KL landmark, the KL Tower. Standing within the compound of the convent, one only needs to look up to see the majestic tower. And in the courtyard, there is a 105-year old well which is still in good working condition. You might be tempted to crank the handle to bring up some water with a bucket but the sisters prefer using an electric pump in this day and age.

This is the long awaited conclusion to our Easter 2006 event. If you have not read the first part, please click here.
When the time came for the Rite of Baptism, the candidates were called upon and they lined up at the steps of the sanctuary. Together with their godparents, they looked very impressive indeed, dressed all in white. |

Saturday 15 April 2006 Water...the symbol of baptism. It was in abundance this evening as the sky practically poured bucket loads down upon the earth. Quite refreshing actually, but parking spots are rare commodities during Easter Vigil and I was not really too keen to run in the rain. Although the Vigil mass started at 9:30 pm, the facilitators had to turn up at 7:30 pm to set up the hall at the Assumption Family House. |
