img_0228sml.jpg Sunday, 5 March 2006 This year's Rite of Election at St John's Cathedral saw 24 new Elects from the Assumption parish. The rite commenced at just before 3:00 pm and lasted slightly over an hour. The rite saw the Books of Elect from the various parishes signed by Archbishop Murphy Pakiam.

img_0243sml.jpg As usual, it was a hot afternoon and most of the people were seen fanning themselves despite the electric fans. This year's book bearer for Assumption Church was Ben and the banner was carried by Trevlyn. They accompanied Fr Simon Labrooy, who so graciously agreed to attend the rite. Due to the limited seats available, some of our facilitators had to remain standing at the aisle. When the rite ended, everyone adjourned for some light refreshments. However, a brief spell of rain caused everyone to run for shelter. For more photos of the rite, please click here .

img_0152sml.jpg Earlier during the 11:15 mass at the Assumption Church, Fr Simon celebrated the Rite of Enrolment, which saw the 24 new members sign their names in the Book of the Elect. By the grace of God, the rite went without a hitch. For more photos, click here.
