This is the long awaited conclusion to our Easter 2006 event. If you have not read the first part, please click here.

When the time came for the Rite of Baptism, the candidates were called upon and they lined up at the steps of the sanctuary. Together with their godparents, they looked very impressive indeed, dressed all in white.

img_0744sml Fr Simon placed the Paschal candle in the baptism water and blessed it. For the rite itself, both Fr Simon and Fr Phillip poured the baptism water onto the candidates' foreheads. The candidates were all excited as they were baptised into the Catholic church. When it was completed, the candidates donned white robes. The godparents then lighted the baptism candles with the fire from the Paschal candle and passed them to the candidates. To complete their initiation into the Catholic church, the candidates also received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

When it was time to receive the Holy Eucharist, the newly baptised would certainly have been very excited as they received the body of Christ for the very first time. The feeling would have been indescribable as they had been preparing for this day since last year.

At the end of the Easter Vigil mass, the newly baptised were practically grinning from ear to ear. It was a joyous occasion indeed.
